Bright morning bothered Shino's eyes as he steadily made his way through the vacant streets of Konoha it had been almost 7 am and there was barely a single soul in sight. Shino walked out through the massive double doors of the Aburame clan house, whose location was in the far corner of Konoha. On the way Shino had stopped on several occasions to inspect several bugs who crawled out of their holes to quickly grab a snack before humans trod around destroying their meals or worse, their habitats.
Shino had finally arrived to the destination where he had told Hinata to meet him last night. Shino was instructed by Kurenai-sensi to train Hinata for the time being as she was preoccupied with personal matters and Kiba their third teammate was out on a mission with his clan. Shino then reclined against a tree waiting for the arrival of the daughter of the Hyuuga clan's leader.

Hinata had been up for hours. She ate breakfast alone before anyone else was awake and made tea for her father and younger sister. By the time they were satisfied it was a little past seven am and she was running late before she'd even left.
She dashed to the meeting spot she'd promised to be at the night before. She was rather red in the face by the time she reached Shino and the tree that he was leaning against. "Shi-Shino-kun! I'm so sorry I'm late," she said as she tried to catch her breath. It was kind of him to help her train though it would have been more fun if Kiba hadn't been so busy with family errands.

Shino's body lazily went forward no longer leaning against the tree. "Hinata you have finally arrived? Well then let's get to training then let's not waste anytime with fruitless covnersation." Shino then walked towards Hinata, his bugs leaking out of his sleeve and pants scurrying around on his hands and coat. "Hinata today we will train on how we can combine our unique abilities together, we know how to combine them to track but we are still unskilled at co-ordinating them in battle."
Shino then jumped back and raised his hand in battle position. "We are going to have a friendly duel." Shino then prepared for battle he had secretly implanted a female bug on Hinata then he formed a few handseals and made a bug clone of himself and withdrew a kunai. "Here I come prepare yourself." With that Shino and the clone charged at Hinata (Left is the real one) The reason Shino wanted to dual Hinata was to test her abilities and analyze it to be able to next co-ordinate it with his own jutsu.

Shino's declaration of friendly dual didn't leave much time for hinata to become prepared. "Byakugan!" she said as the clone charged at her. It was easy to see the difference between Shino and the Shino made of bugs although she struggled to see the bugs individually with her byakugan, hence she was oblivious to the female hitching a ride on her back.
She just had time to take up the gentle fists stance as he and the bug clone approached. She waited until the last second to spin round Shino's right side and strike out with chakra coated finger tips. She made sure she didn't aim for any chakra points that were vital but she new aiming for the non-lethal ones was all but pointless against Shino since he didn't use chakra for much in battle. She was ignoring the clone for now, it wasn't a problem yet.

Shino's body jumped to the side as Hinata's fingers made contact with his right side as she quickly manuevered around Shino and landed a nice attack on him. Yet that was she did exactly what Shino wanted to do land a hit on him. Shino then grabbed her arm as the Shino bug clone attacked Hinata trying to land a punch on her, a slight one so that he would not injure the fragile Hyuuga. Shino had never thought that she would fall that easily to his attack, she knew full well that Shino was no Naruto he would never just charge an opponent, he would wait for them to strike and he returns the favor from there. Also seeing that Hinata will be too distracted with the clone and Shino the bugs would encircle them to land the final attack. "Give up Hinata you lost I just played my trump card. Shino said as he quietly observed the bugs that had formed a sort of dome around them. "Even your eight trigrams will not work they are just too many for you. You left me many openings allowing me to end it as such."

Hinata was annoyed at herself for falling for such a trick, she knew Shino too well to make these kinds of mistakes. But here he was underestimating her in the exact same way. He was right, there were too many insects and enemies for her eight trigrams but she'd been working on a technique she learnt way back after the first chuunin exams from her cousin Neji. She'd gotten it almost perfect though it still wasn't anything in comparison with Neji's version.
"Rotation!" she shouted as she spun her self round in a tight circle, releasing chakra from all over her body. It would deflect the bugs easily and should also disperse the attacking bug clone and free her from Shino's grasp. She had become stronger since their genin days.

Shino then waited to see how Hinata would react to the trap he had initiated for her, Shino was almost certain that she would collapse and give up and most probably tear up and wonder why she was such a failure, as she had done this several times before with Shino who would always comfort her stating that she is anything but a failure and that he believed in her. Yet to Shino's sheer horror the contrary had happened. Shino almost had no time to react but managed to somehow half pull off making a bug wall between them as Hinata shouted "ROTATION!"
Shino despite just managed to make a bug wall was knocked back a few good feet before he was able to compose himself and bring himself to a halt, then spoke in his usual dark manner "Hinata, I'm very impressed you managed to mimick Hyuuga Neji's rotation and utilize it to your advantage at the right moment, excellent work." Despite the fact that Shino was complementing her he still kept a poker face as he spoke his voice still monotonous. "yet the battle is not over yet preapre yourself." Shino then sent a horde of his bugs at Hinata like spiralling bullets (spindle formation). Three times then Shino watched for her reaction. He was now going to let Hinata take initiative, as to learn how to as she always had failed miserably at it. Yet Shino understood why, the fragile girl had always abhored violence which goes against the biased creed of her clan, making her father label her as inferior. Also she must feel a heavy burden that she must be in her genius cousin's league.
Shino then jumped back twice and outstretched his hand and beckoned with his hand for Hinata to attack, motioning with his wrist twice. Shino's bugs were now almost mostly hovering around him. This is where the interesting part happens, to see how much had Hinata had developed since they had last trained together.

There were fewer bugs in this formation, something she could deal with by beginning her heavenly divinations technique, though there was no need to initiate the absolute defense in this situation. She took a deep breath and focused on releasing sharp, flexible chakra from her hands and began moving her arms in arcing swipes to slice through the incoming projectiles. This was easy enough and she wasn't wasting her chakra.
As Shino beckoned her to fight she thought about it first. It was likely to be a trap like last time but she wanted to prove to Shino she was confident enough to attack openly rather than stay behind defensively. She moved forwards, utilizing her body's natural flexibility to twist as she used the same slicing arc of chakra to slash at Shino's middle. This was the first time she'd used this offensively and was a little worried about trying so determinedly to wound him.

Shino waited for the right moment to release the kawamiri, as he watched Hinata charge at him, a beam of chakra arched over him and land right in the middle of his stomach. Perfect, Shino's body recoiled back from the attack and fell to the ground motionless for a few seconds waiting for Hinata to freak out. Choosing the right moment regardless Shino turned into a log. In the meantime the actual Shino stood behind Hinata and whispered in an extremely dark tone. "Hinata you let your guard down again and allowed me to sneak up on you wasting your trump card. No opponent is going to invite you to attack him like that so openly, it must have been a trap. Now I play my trump card." With that said and the lesson learnt the bugs that were hovering around Shino formed a tight dome around Hinata, sucking all her remaining chakra.
Shino who stood outside the dome watched as his bugs formed the dome sucking the chakra out of Hinata. They were so many that it was almost impossible for the Hyuuga to even form chakra now. As soon as she though it was enough Shino ordered his bugs to go back into his coat.

Hinata was caught yet again, Shino's words couldn't be more correct. She was devestated and felt like a failure yet again. As the bugs fed on her chakra she slumped to the ground. She wasn't going to cry like she usually would. "I'm sorry Shino, " she said weakly. "I just wanted to prove I could be bold," she explained. She was truely fed up being the loser who got in the way of her friends. She had changed a little but this wasn't enough. She needed to become strong.

Shino saw it coming and quickly came to his partner's aid, he knew full well that she would break down after failing it was typical of her, Shino despises seeing her in such a state so Shino called for the training session to end and walked up to her. "I'm sorry Shino, I just wanted to prove I could be bold," Shino nodded and replied in his usual calm, serious tone. "Actually Hinata you have grown a lot in my eyes for in the start you would have never lasted this long out in the field with me, now look how far you have gotten? You have become more powerful and that you should never forget." What Shino was in fact the truth Hinata had in fact grown a lot during Naruto's time out of the village and she had matured not only emotionally but capabilities wise she had improved.
"You know Hinata perhaps what you need is a mission? What I'm saying is me and you can go to the Hokage's office and request a mission perhaps that will give you better experience than merely training, you have been training for too long, now is the time to put your skills to the test."

Hinata looked up at Shino as he comforted her. The reflection in his dark glasses was pathetic, her on her knees again. She was a Hyuuga and she was a laughing stock. She bit her lip in anger. His words did soothe her somewhat however and the moment of self hatred passed. With a little aid from Shino she was back on her feet in a matter of moments as he continued his explanation of her growth. He was right when he said there was a time when she'd have been down on Shino's first attack.
"Do you really think I'm ready for that? I mean if this is improvement maybe I'm not cut
out to be a shinobi," she asked quietly reverting slightly to her old quitting ways.
